The Woodland Fairies
11in. x 14in. print from my Neraidology series.
Image is printed with archival inks, matted on a foam board, and protected in a cellophane sleeve.
Based on childhood imagination, I have created a series of field sketches entitled "Neraidology", a word that I made up meaning "the study of fairies" (derived from the Greek translation of 'fairy' or 'nymph', neraida, combined with the suffix -ology meaning "the study of"). I have illustrated this series in college, interweaving my biology education along with ecology, and anthropology. These images were designed to resemble field sketches.
This series was illustrated using traditional media: graphite pencil, watercolor, and colored pencil. The writing was hand-written using ink and dip pens.
